1st Pakistan Film Festival in Eastern Europe and Romania: A collage of Pakistani movies and documentaries from the most innovative film industry in South Asia (Lollywood; Pakistan) to be screened. 

Year 2017 marks an important milestone in the history of Pakistan. This year, Pakistan celebrates its 70th Anniversary of Independence. On this occasion, Embassy of Pakistan, Bucharest is organizing the first ever Pakistan Film Festival from 19-21 January 2018 at Cinemateca Eforie (Str. Eforie 2, Sector 5, Bucharest). 

As a young nation that prides itself in being the inheritors of one of the oldest civilizations on the face of this earth, Pakistanis have excelled in every domain of their social life over the past seven decades. Pakistani Film and Infotainment Industry is no exception on this account.

Popularly known through its Sobriquet, “Lollywood”, the Pakistan Film Industry, one of the oldest of its kind in South Asia, has produced over 10,000 Urdu feature-films since 1948. This is in addition to thousands of films that Lollywood has churned out in other regional languages. These include over 8000 films in Punjabi, 6000 in Pashto and 2000 Sindhi feature-length films. Pakistani cinema has the unique characteristic of experimenting with an amalgam of education and entertainment as a means to raise social awareness among the Pakistani viewership. 

The Pakistan Film Festival in Bucharest (Romania) will feature the following combination of movies of different genres ranging from biographical, documentary, drama, historical to cartoons for children:

DAY 01 (Fri, 19 January 2018)
1830: Pakistan – The land of Wonders (Documentary)
1850: Jinnah (Film)
2100: Refreshments

DAY 02 (Sat, 20 January 2018)
1600-1900: Ho Mann Jahaan (Film)
1915-2030: Ek Thi Marium (Film)
2040-2110: Karakoram Pakistan HeliSki (Documentary)

DAY 03 (Sun, 21 January 2018)
1245-1345 Rediscovering Pakistan - The Untold Tale" - 
A Motorcycle Journey (Documentary)
1400-1430: Burka Avenger - Traffic Rules (Cartoon film)
1445-1645: Chalay Thay Saath (Film)
1700-1750: Mabel Aur Main (Short film)

On the inaugural day of the Pakistan Film Festival (19 January 2018), a formal inauguration ceremony will also be held at 1730 hours followed by refreshments. 

The Pakistan Film Festival is open for all and there is no entry ticket.
