Short films take over Bucharest screens again as NexT International Film Festival starts this week

 

Short films which were selected for the most important international festivals will be screened starting tomorrow, April 10, in this year’s edition of the NexT International Film Festival in Bucharest, Romania. Special screenings will also be organized in Brasov, Cluj, and Iasi, on Aptil, 10, 11 and 12.

A novelty this year will be the selection of films presented at the Aubagne International Film Festival. Short films from the program Short Matters! of the European Film Academy EFA, as well as the ones in the Semaine de la critique section of the Cannes Film festival will also be presented this year in Bucharest. The third evening of the festival, Friday, April 13, will be dedicated to short films nominated at the Oscars . Screenings will start at 20,00 at Patria Cinema downtown Bucharest. Tickets for the evening cost RON 15 and can be bought here. Subscriptions for the entire festival are RON 80, and can be bought online here. Tickets can also be bought from participating cinemas, Studio, Corso and Patria, as well as from the English bookshop Anthony Frost.

Screenings of Semaine de la critique films will start on Sunday, April 14, from 17:00, at Studio cinema. These will include two films directed by Romanians. Short films from the Aubagne festival will be on at the Studio cinema starting Friday, April 12, from 20:30. Films in the EFA program Short matters!, including one directed by Romanian Tudor Giurgiu, will be screened at Corso cinema on Friday, April 12, from 17:00 and 19:30, and on Sunday, April 14, from 15:30 and 18:00.
